Adam Rawson to take over Brixton Beach for exclusive BBQ event launch

2015 YBFs Chef of the Year Adam Rawson will takeover Brixton Rooftop's Brixton Beach on Thursday 1 June for one night only, for the launch of 'BBQ Thursdays on the Beach'. Brixton Beach launches tomorrow and continues for 19 weeks.

Rawson’s takeover is the first of Brixton Beach’s weekly BBQ popups by renowned chefs and restaurants, welcoming some of the city’s best talent to the roof. The 'BBQ Thursdays on the Beach' guest series is also part of London Evening Standard Food Month, celebrating the world's culinary capital.

Winner of the Slider Decider challenge two years in a row, Rawson will showcase his limited edition Cubano Medianoche Burger as well as an array of exclusive BBQ dishes including Pina Colada Ceviche, Pollo Al Estillo Cubano (Cuban-style chicken, avocado mayo, salsa criolla) and Spiced Fries with Mojo Verde.

Running from 6pm until 11pm, the event is free to enter and guests can guarantee their chance to sample Rawson’s special menu by ordering a food token in advance from Brixton Rooftop via Design My Night: goo.gl/AoAmtp

Rawson was recently named one of CODE Hospitality’s '30 under 30' for the way he is redefining London’s hospitality industry and is known for his innovative dishes influenced by his global travels.

Described as 'London’s Hottest Young Chef' by the Evening Standard, Rawson has spent over a decade cooking in the UK and trained under some of the world’s most prestigious chefs including Nuno Mendes, Claude Bosi and Gordon Ramsay.

His upcoming BBQ takeover at Brixton Beach follows his sell-out series of Japanese inspired Sakura suppers and #Rawmen ramen bar evenings at Brewery Below with Borough Wines & Beers.

This summer, Brixton Beach will transport guests to a lush and colourful paradise, serving up a winning combination of cocktails, streetfood and entertainment, creating the ultimate festival that lasts all summer long.

Created by the award-winning team behind South Pole Saloon, Big Apple Brixton and last year’s popular Brixton Beach Boulevard, the rooftop is located in an area well loved for embracing cultures and produce from all over the world.

Visitors will journey to a magnificent tropical fiesta on the beach and prepare to turn up the heat in Cuba. Sun-kissed sand, colourful murals and pastel beach huts inspired by Havana’s old world splendour will dot the rooftop.

The Cuban-inspired cocktail menu will include Caribbean classics such as Rum Daiquiris, Piña Coladas, Cubanitos and Mojitos. The rooftop bars will also feature Cuban cocktail libations from Bacardi, as well as dedicated bars from iconic Jamaican lager Red Stripe and Chandon, offering guests a selection of Argentine sparkling wines.
