Tim Hortons to open second UK site in Glasgow shopping complex

Hammerson announces that Tim Hortons, the Canadian cafe and bake shop famed for its signature brewed coffee, delicious food and Canadian charm, is to open its first restaurant in a Scottish shopping centre, at Silverburn, Glasgow.

Situated in the Wintergarden, next to Patisserie Valerie, the 220m sq restaurant will open later this summer following the brand’s first site, which opened on Argyle Street in Glasgow earlier this month.

The restaurant will offer Silverburn’s visitors Tim Hortons full range of delicious food and great coffee, including steamed tea and speciality hot drinks, breakfast, soups and sandwiches, as well as the brand’s famous range of donuts, including its signature TimBits, which come in a variety of flavours, and bagels.

Sarah Fox, Head of Restaurants and Leisure at Hammerson, commented, “Tim Hortons is a fantastic addition to Silverburn’s line-up of leading brands and the comprehensive day-out offer that the centre provides.

'The company’s decision to begin their national expansion plans at Silverburn is also testament to the centre’s strong position in the market.”

Gurprit Dhaliwal, COO of Tim Hortons UK and Ireland Ltd, added, “Our first Tim Hortons restaurant received an exceptional welcome in Glasgow, so we’re excited to launch this debut shopping centre concept within Silverburn. With its excellent reputation and recent investment by Hammerson, Silverburn is a perfect location for the expansion of Tim Hortons across Scotland.”

Tim Hortons was founded in 1964 by its namesake, a famous professional ice hockey player, and has grown to become a central part of Canadian culture. The company serves eight out of ten cups of coffee in Canada and welcomes more than 5.3 million Canadians every day.
