Shoreditch wine bar changes hands

Edwin’s French Wine Bar in Shoreditch, London, has been sold through Christie & Co.

The specialist wine bar, which underwent a high quality re-fit in 2013 features an open plan area with bar counter and seating for 50 covers, plus a fully equipped kitchen. It also has outside seating along its three frontages, providing capacity for a further 25 covers.

Set in one of the most desirable and lively areas in east London, the high-end bar had a well-established reputation with a returning clientele and high footfall.

The new owners come from the renowned, Michelin-starred Ellory in nearby Hackney, and will look to employ a 'Parisian bistro' concept to the business, which prioritises a simple and laid back approach combined with a high quality offering. The venue is also to undergo a rebranding following the sale and will be called Leroy.

The seller of Edwin’s French Wine Bar commented, “After assigning the sale to Christie & Co, they were able to introduce viable, quality buyers and throughout the process they had shown conscientious follow-up at every stage of the negotiation.”

William Langton, Business Agent at Christie & Co, said, “Edwin’s received great interest throughout the marketing process, which was hardly surprising due to the high demand the area that Shoreditch dictates.

'With 60,000 sq ft of new workspace under development located directly opposite the premises and due to be operational in the near future, the eventual buyers saw an opportunity with lengthy remaining term of the lease in addition to the assurance of new footfall to the area.”
