Surrey pub reopens following extensive Fullers refurb

The Albert Arms in Esher, Surrey, which has been closed since 2016, today [14 August 2018] reopens for business, creating 26 new jobs under the stewardship of General Manager Dan Arrow.

The pub has been extensively refurbished by London brewer and premium pub company Fuller’s, who acquired the site through agents Fleurets in 2016.

The décor inside the pub pays more than a passing nod to its proximity to Sandown Park Racecourse, and the six bedrooms, housed in a separate cottage opposite the pub, are all named after legendary racehorses such as Arkle and Desert Orchid.

The new look Albert Arms is complete with an exciting new menu and three upstairs dining rooms. The Fuller’s Kitchen at The Albert Arms, led by head chef Ojas Naware, has created a menu that is designed to offer a flexible dining experience.

A selection of dishes, including London Porter smoked salmon, roasted Jerusalem artichoke risotto, salt beef and Heritage tomato salad, are available as starters and mains, to allow diners to choose a meal to suit their appetite.

In addition, the meat and fish section of the menu allows diners to customise their meal by adding a choice of sides to dishes such as langoustines with garlic butter or a marinated Barnsley chop.

Also available are nibbles including Native oysters, Vietnamese spicy chicken wings and crispy squid, while those with a sweeter tooth can enjoy hot chocolate and caramel fondant with Fuller’s vanilla ice cream or Hampshire strawberry mille-feuille with berry coulis.

Dan Arrow said, “The Albert Arms is a great pub in a superb location, just a 10-minute walk from Sandown Park. My team and I aim to offer a warm and welcoming environment whether you are popping in for a quick pint, coming for a romantic dinner, or looking to hold a family celebration. With the six bedrooms too, I hope that we will soon build up a regular stream of racegoers who will keep coming back for more of The Albert Arms’ experience.

“Fuller’s pubs are famous for offering fantastic food, a great portfolio of premium drinks and exceptional customer service in a beautiful environment and The Albert Arms will be no exception. I’m so proud of the pub – I just can’t wait to welcome neighbours, locals and visitors to the area. I intend to put it on the map as the best pub in Esher and I know I’ve got the decor, the head chef and the team to do just that.”
