Revamped Richmond hotel to relaunch under new name

Set on one of the most spectacular riverside landscapes in London, The Bingham hotel in Richmond, is set to become Bingham Riverhouse when it reopens next month, following a revamp.

The Trinder family acquired the building in 1984 and it remains to this day in the care of mother and daughter, Ruth and Samantha Trinder. Leading the way, Samantha plans to reinstate the site as a place for guests to “be themselves, feel at home, nurtured and cared for, more than ever before”.

Following a full refurbishment by award-winning interior designer Nicola Harding, the Bingham Riverhouse will feel more of a modern private house, where guests can enjoy the new dining rooms and 15 revamped bedrooms.

Samantha Trinder commented, “I grew up in what was my parents B&B in the eighties and in the noughties. I was lucky enough to be given a free rein by my mother, a formidable Kenyan business woman, to transform it into Richmond’s first boutique hotel.

'As I’ve journeyed from hotelier to yoga teacher and therapist, I’m inspired to reconnect the Bingham with its history, to be a place for all to be themselves. It’ll be brought to life by our incredible team led by Erick Kervaon.'

Originally built as two Georgian houses, from 1899, the property saw previous dwellers Katherine Bradley and Edith Cooper pen poems and plays under the famous pseudonym Michael Field; the house instantly became a literary hub and visitors including WB Yeats flocked.
