Father’s Day Comp sees winner take over Fullers pub

Surinder Sahota was crowned the winner of Fuller’s Father’s Day competition, My Dad’s Pub, winning the ultimate Father’s Day present, his own Fuller’s pub for the day.

His local Fuller’s pub, The Wykeham Arms in Winchester, was transformed for the whole of Father’s Day, including being renamed The Sahota Arms – with a personalised pub sign to match.

Sahota was surprised to arrive at the pub to discover his portrait on the pub sign, his name on the top of the menu and a delicious meal on the house for him and his family.

Sahota beat nearly 2,000 other entrants and won the competition having been nominated by both of his sons. “Cancer researcher by day and HSB drinker by night, Dad embodies everything great about our local – joyous, of high spirit and ageing perfectly!” was the winning entry from his son, Kabir.

Jon Howard, Manager of The Wykeham Arms, said, “It was a pleasure spending Father’s Day with Surinder and his family. Surinder seemed really chuffed at having his own pub. His family are clearly proud of him year-round and I was delighted to help them celebrate Surinder on Father’s Day.”

Sahota said, “I’m so pleased about this. I can’t believe I have my face on a pub sign! I’m touched that my family entered me in to the competition and I’m so glad that I get to enjoy this with them and other loved ones.

'I’d like to say how grateful I am to Fuller’s, this is such a great prize and it’s very generous. Thank you to Jon and the team at The Wykeham Arms for the fantastic food and service.”
