Tortilla to open 38th restaurant in Soho

Californian-style burrito and taco group, Tortilla is opening its first restaurant in London's Soho via CDG Leisure. The advisory firm secured a 700 sq ft site at 88 Wardour Street to facilitate the Cali-Mex restaurant’s expansion.

Tortilla will offer its signature dishes at its 38th location, such as quesadillas, carnitas tacos and barbacoa burritos.

Diners can also take Tortilla’s range of salads and sauces to make their own fully-customisable meal with more than 430 possible combinations.

With all the key Tortilla designs, the new restaurant will be able to cater for up to 20 covers.

The move comes after the group launched its Tortilla 800 concept in 2017 (taking on sites less than 800 sq ft, almost half that of a usual Tortilla store) to compete for sites in smaller residential or office-based areas.

Tortilla was founded in 2007 by Brandon and Jennifer Stephens in an effort to bring the Mexican fusion flavours of their native California to London.

Since then, it has gone from strength to strength, with 23 in London and 14 across the U.K.

Salvatore Dinatale, CDG Leisure, who acted on behalf of the previous tenant, said, “This is a testament to how much people love what Tortilla offers. The location, with its high footfall and vibrant atmosphere is perfect for the growing operator at a time when diners are opting for fresh flavours and healthy grab and go options to fit in with an active lifestyle.”
