Mowgli Street Food to open first site in Wales

Mowgli Street Food is to open its first site in Wales, situated on Church Street, Cardiff this summer.

The Mowgli experience is about a fresh take on Indian food and at its heart is how Indians eat in the privacy of their home and from their favourite street stalls.

Founder and British chef, Nisha Katona MBE said, 'The menu is entirely comprised of dishes from my family’s recipes. It is a million miles away from the curry house experience.”

She continued, “Wales represents a brave and new frontier for our little homegrown kitchen. Cardiff knows what she wants from her dining landscape and I feel that Cardiff could not be a better fit for everything that Mowgli is.

'She is a quirky bohemian eatery and Cardiff has such a hip and honest foodie scene. I hope Mowgli and my ancestral family dishes do the high Welsh expectations justice”.

Mowgli opened its doors in 2014 now operates in Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Nottingham, Oxford and Sheffield.

Katona added, “The aim of Mowgli is to enrich lives in the cities that she goes to. I will continue to dedicate all my energy into taking Mowgli to the cities that would have her, only as long as they want her.'

Recently awarded an MBE for her services to the food industry, Katona will open another two restaurants this year, in Leicester and Bristol.
