New GM for revamped Kent pub

Following a £250k refurb from Shepherd Neame, The Vine Inn in Tenterden, Ashford has a new General Manager, Fraser Johnston, who first worked behind the bar twelve years ago.

The refurb has included new lighting, décor and furniture. A new bar has been installed, and the layout of the pub changed to create a new dining area.

The rear garden has been repaved and new furniture installed. The new games room has bar skittles, a dart board, playing cards and board games and there is live music every Saturday evening, and a quiz every Sunday.

The new-look pub also has a brand-new menu and drinks offer, and serves up barista coffee.

Johnston said, “I spent eight years at The Vine, working my way up from a member of bar staff to manager, before moving on to run several other Shepherd Neame sites including The George Hotel in Cranbrook.

'My wife is from Tenterden and we live just outside in St Michael’s, so when this opportunity arose at The Vine, I expressed my interest straight away, and was thrilled to be appointed. The Vine has been completely transformed, so it is a really exciting challenge.”

Shepherd Neame director of retail and tenanted operations, Nigel Bunting said, “We are delighted with the results of this major investment. The pub looks absolutely fantastic, and we have a great team in place, working hard to ensure that The Vine Inn fulfils its incredible potential.”
