Clare Smyth & Anne-Sophie Pic to host International Women’s Day dinner

On Tuesday 10 March, two of the world’s greatest chefs, Clare Smyth and Anne-Sophie Pic will prepare and host a dinner in celebration of International Women’s Day at the renowned 2 Michelin-starred Core by Clare Smyth. Following on from their hugely successful collaboration dinner last year, the two chefs are joining forces once more to honour this special day.

Pic is one of the most decorated Michelin-starred chefs in the world. She currently holds eight stars across her four restaurants and is the only female chef in France to hold three Michelin stars for her family restaurant, Maison Pic in Valence. Her London restaurant, La Dame de Pic received two stars in the 2020 Michelin Guide.

Smyth is an internationally renowned Michelin-star chef and remains the first and only female chef to run a restaurant with three Michelin-stars in the UK. She was awarded two stars as a new entry into the 2019 Michelin Guide for her debut restaurant, Core by Clare Smyth. She was also named The World’s Best Female Chef by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

For one evening only, the two chefs will welcome guests to a celebration of women in the restaurant industry. Combining their talents, creativity and teamwork, they will each showcase a selection of signature dishes as part of the six course tasting menu, interacting with guests throughout the evening.

On arrival, guests will be served a selection of canapés from Pic and Smyth followed by a first course from Pic’s kitchen of steak tartare seasoned with mustard and Wagyu beef emulsion, beetroot, smoked pike caviar and lovage ice cream. The second course by Pic will be berlingots, pasta parcels with Baron Bigod cheese, seasonal wild mushrooms, woodruff, barley and roasted hazelnut consommé and black truffle.

Smyth will follow with a fish course of Cornish turbot, smoked mussels, red apple, cabbage and cider and the main course of Rhug Estate fallow deer, smoked chestnut, braised haunch and black truffle.

Desserts will include Pic’s Yorkshire Rhubarb, shiso cream on cherry leaves meringue, rhubarb sorbet infused with Damas rose, and finally, petit fours from Smyth including a warm chocolate and clementine tart and ‘Sauternes and Banyuls’. Core’s Head Sommelier Gareth Ferreira and La Dame de Pic’s Director of Wine Jan Konetzki have created a unique wine pairing menu sourced from leading female wine-makers and producers.

Smyth said, “It is an honour to have Anne-Sophie and her team join us in the kitchen at Core. I look forward working with her to create an amazing experience for our guests celebrating women in the hospitality industry.”

Pic added, “I shared an amazing time with Clare Smyth last year. I welcomed her in La Dame de Pic London and let her be part of my universe; now it’s my turn to be heading to Core and be a part of hers. The evening is so meaningful as we celebrate women in the hospitality industry and I’m thrilled to be working together with Clare again.'
