Caribbean eatery at POP Brixton launches rum shop

Caribe, an authentic Caribbean eatery, which opened in November at POP Brixton, has just launched its 'rum shop'.

The 'shop' offers a selection of rum, rhum agricole and rum liqueurs from various islands of the Caribbean, as well as brand new rum cocktails. There are 12 rums and 8 cocktails on the new drinks list.

The cocktails include Whiskey Gingerella - Grants whiskey, bacardi spiced [Puerto Rico], homemade spiced ginger syrup, ginger beer, bitters (Tinidad], lime, and Goombay Smash - Appleton estate special (Jamaica), koko kanu (Jamaica) pineapple, triple sec & lemon.

The brainchild of Keshia Sakarah, Caribe celebrates Caribbean food culture from all the islands of the West Indies. The food offer is massively diverse and unique, taking influence and ingredients from nations around the world.

Sakarah explained, 'I wanted to showcase the Caribbean as a collective and dishes that were not mainstream or known to many, for example, saltfish accra from Trinidad, whilst honouring the classics such as curry goat from Jamaica and other islands. All the recipes have been developed and are handmade by myself.'

Caribe also delivers island beers, handmade snacks, and small plates.
