Cardiff’s first drive-in film & street food experience opens tonight

Mobile ordering and payment platform Yoello has teamed up with Street Food Cinema, Cardiff’s first dedicated drive-in film and street food experience that opens tonight (Friday 7 August), to enable movie-goers to order delicious local dishes on their mobile phones from the likes of Franks Hot Dogs, Dirty Bird, Joe’s Ice Cream and Blakes Popcorn.

Yoello’s simple and secure ordering set-up allows customers to order food and drink safely, without staff contact, physical menus or queuing. There’s no need to download an app; customers simply scan a QR code stuck to their car window with their phone and then sit back and relax as staff on roller skates speed their dishes to them.

Street Food Cinema is at Splott Market and can accommodate up to 64 cars per show, with a range of films on offer until 17 August, featuring classic favourites and recent blockbusters. More films are scheduled for the rest of the month.

The only mobile ordering solution that is FCA-regulated, Yoello also offers cheaper bank-to-bank payments to hospitality businesses, which is critical as the industry emerges from the corona crisis, and also provides a free ‘test and trace’ platform.

Sina Yamani, CEO of Yoello, said, “We are delighted to give cinema-goers a safe and easy way to get food and drink from the mouth-watering eateries at Street Food Cinema. Our innovative platform supports street-food operators looking to bounce back and serve more people in this socially distanced time.”

Matt Lawton, Street Food Cinema founder, added, “As an independent events business, it’s been a tough year so far so it feels great to be able to welcome people back and, just as importantly, to be giving a trading platform to these brilliant local food businesses.

“This is a chance to enjoy a great night out, from the comfort and safety of your own car, while giving invaluable support to our independent street food traders.”
