Newport c-store under new ownership

Christchurch Road Convenience Store & Post Office, an attractive freehold community store in the city of Newport, South Wales, has been sold via Christie & Co.

Situated in the affluent village of Christchurch, approximately two miles from Newport town centre, Christchurch Road Convenience Store & Post Office benefits from a prominent, highly visible main road position. The store is arranged in an attractive three-storey semi-detached property with a ground floor trading area and an immaculately presented four-bedroom owners’ accommodation located above the store.

Under the ownership of previous owners, Christchurch locals, Dave and Lynn Stichbury for the past nine years, the business has traded as a successful and well-established community store, popular with both locals and transient passing trade. Dave and Lynn made the decision to bring the property to market through Christie & Co’s retail team in order to retire from the sector.

The store has been purchased by Balwant Singh and his partner, Bikramjit Kaur. They plan to introduce different product ranges and extend the store’s opening hours to drive increased footfall and turnover.

Singh commented, “We are very happy that we will be taking over the Christchurch Road store, despite such volatile times. We are very appreciative for the people at Christie and Co, especially Jamie, for helping us purchase this business and we hope the previous vendors have a happy retirement.

'We wish to carry on maintaining a high level of service and to fit into the heart of the community. We hope the locals will welcome us and our existing staff with open arms. We hope to see you all soon!”

Jamie Williams, Business Agent at Christie & Co handled the sale, and added, “I’m delighted to have assisted in what is a great deal for all parties. This sale is the tenth completion for Christie & Co across the region since March and with several more to be done before the end of the year, the retail sector continues to respond well to any adversities it faces.”
