Opso to unveil winter terrace next week

On Thursday 3 December, Opso, the Greek restaurant in London's Marylebone, will unveil an all-new outdoor dining area, the winter terrace.

Reminiscent of the cosy dining culture of capital cities throughout Europe, the space will offer a selection of new winter cocktails, wines by the glass and a menu of comforting Greek dishes to keep the cold at bay.

The fully sheltered terrace will be transformed into a wintery oasis for the season, with the intimate space adorned with festive foliage, ambient lighting and the essential heaters to stave off the cold. With flickering flame heaters between tables and warming throws draped over each chair, guests can enjoy those bright winter mornings with friends and family as well as keeping snug as the night draws in.

Those looking to feast will be able to enjoy traditional hearty dishes synonymous with Greek cuisine including Mousakas; grilled aubergine, slow braised beef ragu, béchamel sauce and potato crisps; Lamb Shank Trahanas, slow cooked lamb shank with truffled mushroom trahanas and graviera cheese; and Pork Stifado, an Iberico pluma steak with baby onions, girolles and mushrooms.

For those looking to ward off the chill with a festive drink, Opso’s new winter cocktail menu will provide any required additional heat with guests able to enjoy Rakomelo, a spin on the classic festive mulled wine with red wine, spices and Roots Tentura, a Greek cinnamon liquer; and Milk Punch, a creamy cup of Metaxa, dark spiced rum, vanilla syrup and grated nutmeg. 6 months in the making, Opso’s first batch of barrel-aged negronis; a blend of premium vermouths, chocolate and mandarin bitters, will also be available.

To mark the opening, on Sunday 13 December, Opso will be hosting their very first Greek Christmas Market. Held on the new terrace, the market will invite Londoners and Marylebone locals to sample some of Greece's finest festive goods and continuing the restaurant’s focus on championing modern Greek food in London.

On offer will be traditional Greek produce including Melomakarona (Greek Christmas cookies); Greek Bottarga, a rich delicacy made from grey mullet; house smoked eel, Cretan Extra Virgin Olive Oil; and organic Kalamata Olives. A number of their Christmas Hampers, packed to the brim with premium Greek produce, will be available to buy.
