New owners with plans buy popular Kent coffee shop

Richard Evans and Hazel Thetford have acquired the Coach House Coffee Shop, which sits just off the historic high street in New Romney, Kent, with funding secured by Christie Finance.

The thriving business is well-known in the local area for being a community hub. It has reported a consistently strong turnover since 2017, has excellent online reviews and secured a 5-star hygiene rating.

Evans has formerly managed and eventually took over a busy cafe, and will now take on the role as head chef at the Coach House. Thetford brings further experience in management and running her own successful cleaning business, along with providing front of house experience.

The husband and wife duo look to embark on improvements, implementing a cultural edge to The Coach House Coffee Shop and bringing a Greek taverna menu in the evenings.

In addition, the pair are looking to extend their existing alcohol licence by offering more choice. They also have longer term plans to host licensed private functions, provide outside catering and deliveries.
