Riding House Café launches delivered Caribbean menu & nationwide meal-kit

The team behind London's Riding House Café have just launched the Soul Ride by Riding House at Home.

Headed up by Chef Patron Henry Omereye, alongside Chef Martin Kanu, Soul Ride is inspired by Henry’s love of the Caribbean and its cuisine. The Soul Ride menu speaks to the team’s desire to transport their customers to warmer climes through delicious comfort food, in a time in which travel is not possible.

The new concept will take over the entire menu and is available to order for delivery and collection, as well as through the meal kit boxes on the Riding House at Home online store.

At the same time, the much-loved Riding House Local Store on Great Titchfield Street will return in collaboration with top London butcher, O’Shea’s.

Having spent much time in Barbados, where he was head chef at The Cliff Beach Club, Henry’s conceptual menu runs from Brunch to Lunch & Dinner, taking inspiration from Caribbean classics throughout.

Brunch, for which Riding House is well known, runs from savoury dishes such as Smoked Cajun pepper stew with coconut, avocado, christophine and okra crisps and fried egg to the stand-out Caribbean pancakes with toasted marshmallows, coconut clotted cream, white chocolate, and banana maple syrup.

The Lunch & Dinner menu features similarly warming dishes including Salt cod fritters with Bajan pepper sauce; Island stew (braised mutton, yam, pumpkin, okra, scotch bonnet & dumplings) and the Soul Burger with ackee & callaloo, as well as Tiger shrimp triple cheese mac.

For pudding will be the likes of Cinnamon sugar dumplings with banana cream.

For those unable to get into London, the Riding House at Home feasting boxes have also had the Soul Ride treatment with the Soul Ride Brunch Box, Weekender Box and Sunday Roast Box all delivered nationwide, perfect for lockdown weekends and to raise spirits by gifting to friends and family. The boxes will include signature dishes from the Soul Ride delivery menu, ready to finish to eat at home and perfect for weekends in Lockdown.

Whilst the Brunch box includes all the ingredients needed for a decadent Brunch, the Weekender takes this a step further, providing everything required to make more than 3 separate meals. Highlights include Curry mutton, Pumpkin, mushroom & mozzarella mac, Jerk chicken burgers and a 500g 32-Day Aged pimento-marinated Côte de Boeuf, alongside Crispy new potatoes. This is all ready to be enjoyed alongside a variety of snacks, homemade cocktails and Sticky date & spiced rum pudding.

Available for delivery and collection, as well as part of the Roast Box, is Soul Ride’s take on a classic roast chicken; the Whole corn-fed pimento chicken with all the trimmings including Mac n Cheese, crispy new potatoes with chili, creamed corn and kale. The online store also sells a variety of cocktail kits complete with everything needed to make signature cocktails such as the Taitinger on Thyme and the Kentucky Bucket. A Soul Ride Valentines box will also be available to order, including everything needed for the most soulful night in.

The Riding House Local Store will also return, in collaboration with London butchers O’Sheas, and will offer a wide array of delicious ethically reared meat, alongside homemade hot sauces and rubs and a hand-picked selection of the team’s favourite produce. This includes vinegars from Vinegar Shed, Freda’s peanut butters and London Honey Company Honey as well as fresh provisions such as charcuterie, cheese, bread and eggs. All dishes from the Soul Ride Delivery menu can also be collected from the store itself.
