Truro hotel acquired by experienced operators


Merchant House Hotel, a 30-room hotel located in the centre of Truro, in Cornwall, has been solid via Christie & Co.

Known as the UK’s most southerly city, Truro is a vibrant centre of shopping, culture and impressive architecture in the heart of Cornwall, making it a great base to explore the region. The Merchant House Hotel is well-positioned within the city, just a leisurely ten-minute stroll from the picturesque town centre.

The substantial period-style property has benefitted from a number of additions and renovations since being acquire by previous owner Nicky Whittaker’s in 2012, and offers potential for further development.

The business has been purchased by Blonde & Grey Ltd, set up by experienced hotel operators and consultants Tim and Hazel Brocklebank, who also run The Brocklebank Partnership Consultancy. They previously owned The Rosevine, near Portscatho, which they sold in 2016.

They commented, “As we take over the business, we wish Nicky well. Being local to Truro we know the hotel well, and saw a great opportunity to purchase Merchant’s House, and to take the hotel forwards. We look forward to sharing our plans for the hotel in the very near future.”
