Vagabond invests £1.2m in first airport site

Multi-award-winning experiential wine bar group, Vagabond Bar and Kitchen is set to launch its first airport site this week, airside at Heathrow’s Terminal 5, and the 11th venue.

The £1.2m investment will see Vagabond create 60 new jobs, opening the doors to a 4,500 sq ft site, with space for 170 guests.

From 19 May 2022, over 100 varieties of wine will be served via Vagabond’s iconic wine dispensers and the venue will also be home to one of the brand’s unique self-pour craft beer walls.

For the first time, the Vagabond site will also offer extensive breakfast, lunch and dinner menus as well as bar snacks, cocktails and a children’s menu.

Breakfast dishes include Bubble & Squeak with Bacon & Egg, Egg & Chorizo Hash, All Day Vegan Full English Breakfast, and Eggs Benedict.

There's bar food like Buttermilk Chicken Burger, Charcuterie Board, Vegan Hamburger, Mac & Cheese and All Day Rueben Sliders.

Open seven days a week, from 5:30am – 10:30pm, travellers will be able to enjoy everything from all day brunch, grills and sharing boards, to cocktails, smoothies and hot drinks.

Matt Fleming, Managing Director, noted, “This is a really exciting step into the airport environment for Vagabond and the Heathrow site will expose millions of guests to the Vagabond concept per year.

“We have ambitious growth plans to open further sites across the country and this new venue is also a fantastic foothold for potential future international expansion. We can’t wait to introduce the Vagabond way to people from around the world, giving them the perfect start to their journey.”

Vagabond’s Heathrow site will become the eleventh in the group, with nine venues already trading across London and a recent opening in Birmingham.

FS News Editor Becky says, 'This major investment is such a boost for the travel F&B sector as it shows that life is returning to normal after the devastation of the pandemic. With proof of a negative Covid test, pleasure and business travellers can enjoy quality F&B before taking to the skies. Make mine a Vagabond All Day Full English Breakfast with a cheeky Mimosa!'
