Thirsk newsagents sold following 15 years of ownership

Towlers Newsagents, situated in the heart of the busy market town of Thirsk, North Yorkshire, has been sold via Christie & Co at an undisclosed price.

Occupying an excellent town centre location on Market Place, Towlers Newsagents is a very profitable business which enjoys a high level of trade from local residents and tourists.

The local newsagents offers a wide range of products including confectionery, every-day necessities and boasts a highly praised toy and gift section. In addition, the store has established a loyal trade from its local newspaper deliveries.

Following 15 years of ownership, previous owner, Michael Sturdy decided to put the store up for sale on a leasehold basis as it had reached the time for him to retire. This created a fantastic opportunity for a new owner to acquire the lease on an established business with scope to grow.

Andrew Birnie, Director at Christie & Co who handled the sale, commented, “This opportunity is a fine example of a busy market town newsagents, and I am delighted to confirm it has been sold on a new lease basis. We wish both the seller and new owner all the best for the future.”
