Hall & Woodhouse snaps up Surrey pub

Regional brewer and pub company, Hall & Woodhouse has acquired The Wiremill pub and restaurant, which is located near Lingfield in Surrey.

Yummy Pubs, the former owners of the freehold managed pub and restaurant, having received a number of unsolicited approaches from various pub companies and agents, followed Christie & Co’s advice and marketed the business on a discreet and confidential basis to a limited number of buyers.

This resulted in the sale of this 15th century character and historic property which stands alongside a 26 acre mill pond.

Hall & Woodhouse is an independent, family company based in Dorset. It brews the award-winning Badger Ales and runs an estate of high-quality pubs in the south of England. It has a collection of c.170 pubs that make up its managed house and Business Partner estate, stretching from Woolacombe to Teignmouth in Devon, London to Brighton.

Anthony Pender, Co-Founder of Yummy Pubs, said, “In 2007 Christie & Co initially facilitated the sale of the lease of The Wiremill to us and 10 years later were also instrumental in helping us to obtain the freehold, and ultimately it was with the help of Neil Morgan, who has been there since day dot, that we were able to sell a venue we had become very emotionally attached to, to a worthy buyer.

'Hall & Woodhouse really were ideal candidates and we know they will steward such an iconic site long into the future.”

Neil, who is the Senior Director – Pubs & Restaurants at Christie & Co, added, “My relationship with Yummy Pubs started in 2007 when they originally acquired the pub through Christie & Co as a leasehold business, and in recent years acquired the freehold interest.

'I am so delighted to have advised and worked closely with the Yummy senior team for the past 15 years and wish them all every success in their next ventures as they rebrand to Yummy Collection with Anthony Pender at the helm.”
