Brand new Sainsbury’s for Worcestershire town

Sainsbury’s has arrived in Bewdley, Worcestershire, with the launch of a brand-new convenience store in the town.

Local residents braved the British weather to head out and try their new Sainsbury’s Local for the first time, joining colleagues and Mayor of Bewdley, Cllr Rod Stanczyszyn, to cut the ribbon and celebrate the store’s opening this morning.

Conveniently located close to the town centre, Sainsbury’s Bewdley Dog Lane Local will serve and help customers seven days a week from 7am to 11pm.

The opening of the new 4,000 sq. ft. store brings Sainsbury’s great value, high-quality products within easy reach of residents and visitors to Bewdley for the first time. Fresh bread and pastries will be baked in-store every day, complementing the range of Sainsbury’s food-to-go, fruit and veg, ready meals, savoury snacks and confectionery on offer.

A Costa Coffee machine will enable customers to pick up a hot drink on the move and the store will also sell a selection of general merchandise products, as well as cut flowers to suit all occasions.

The colleagues that make up the new store team will play an active role in Bewdley, including establishing links with nearby food donation charities via its partnership with Neighbourly to ensure surplus food from the store goes to those in the community who need it most.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Property Director, said, “It’s always a pleasure to bring Sainsbury’s to a new town for the first time and I hope our customers in Bewdley enjoy the greater convenience and choice our store will offer.

'The new Local has been specifically designed and built to be in keeping with the local neighbourhood and we’re really pleased with the result.”

Glyn Bailey, Sainsbury’s Bewdley Dog Lane Local Store Manager, added, “We’re delighted to be able to welcome our new customers from today and we’re looking forward to playing our part in the local community.

'I’d like to thank everyone who has worked hard to help us get ready to open our fresh new Sainsbury’s store, enabling us to put our best foot forward for customers in Bewdley from the get-go.”
