Lionhearth, reveals pipeline of new openings

Cotswold Pub Group, Lionhearth, the new group behind The Chequers in Churchill and The Swan in Ascott-under-Wychwood, has announced a pipeline of new openings for 2023.
The plans see the group double its capacity for dining and rooms over the next 12 months with the launch of two new pubs, alongside new rooms and self-catering cottages in the region. Lionhearth, will continue to honour its community-first philosophy by creating welcoming spaces where locals and guests can enjoy top quality food, fine wine and feel at home with friends.

“Our pubs are the heart of our communities,” said Scott Macdonald, Managing Director of Lionhearth. “We are committed to securing these precious spaces over the long term and will continue to invest in the region to create warm, welcoming venues where friends, families and loved ones can enjoy exceptional food, superb wines and regional beers for many years to come.”

The first in the pipeline, The Chapel, will open this summer. The new property will see three bedrooms added to the inventory at The Swan in Ascott-under-Wychwood. In keeping with the group’s signature style, the new spaces will combine playful modern interiors with classic honey-coloured Cotswold architecture. Guests will have full access to The Swan including its large garden terrace.

The Black Horse in Salford will reopen in late summer 2023. Lionhearth has invested heavily in returning this precious community asset to its former glory. Locals and visitors will enjoy a classic pub atmosphere and rustic dining – with a new one-bedroom cottage for overnight stays.

The group will open their newly renovated cottages in a prominent position in Kingham towards the end of the year. Four extensively refurbished two bedroom cottages will offer guests an opportunity to explore the heart of the Cotswolds in typical Lionhearth style. Each will feature a fully functional kitchen and be served by the neighbouring Lionhearth pubs.
