Nespresso to cut 200 UK jobs as it closes stores
Nespresso has eliminated over 200 jobs in the UK as part of a broader restructuring, which included the closure of 11 stores nationwide in 2024.

Accounts filed with Companies House show that the coffee giant reduced its UK headcount from 716 to 499 over the latest financial year.

'Nespresso said the changes are intended to streamline operations and 'adapt to changing shopping preferences for immersive brand experiences.

Although several stores closed, Nespresso’s UK arm saw turnover rise slightly to £340.7m, compared with £338.6m the previous year, and pre-tax profit increase from £14m to £15m.

This represents the 12th consecutive year of growth in pre-tax profit, with UK turnover increasing from £306.1m to £309.9m, while sales in other regions dipped slightly, from £32.5m to £30.8m.

In 2024, the company distributed a dividend of £10.3m to its parent, slightly lower than the £11m paid the previous year.

A board statement highlighted strong consumer sales of Nespresso’s Vertuo system, along with growth in its business-to-business division.

Nespresso has also entered the on-the-go coffee market with a new bar near London’s Liverpool Street station, the board noted.

The company added that it continues to face an extremely challenging external environment.
