Aldi to renovate more than 20 stores by the end of 2025

Aldi has announced plans to upgrade over 20 of its UK stores by the end of 2025 as part of its ongoing effort to enhance the customer shopping experience.

The discounter will carry out major expansions at its Barrow-in-Furness (Cumbria) and Ebbw Vale (Wales) locations. 21 additional stores will see refreshed layouts, updated fixtures, and improved sustainability features.

The supermarket chain said the upgrades are part of Aldi’s ongoing enhancement programme, which has already modernised over 500 stores with brighter aisles, more space for fresh and chilled products, and updated equipment.

Jonathan Neale, Aldi UK’s managing director of national real estate, said the investment will help the retailer “continue to meet the needs of the communities [its] stores serve for years to come.”

He added: “Our investment into our store estate is part of our ongoing commitment to provide the very best shopping experience for our customers. By extending and refreshing our existing sites, we’re providing more sustainable and convenient stores.”

In addition to the upgrades, Aldi plans to expand further, targeting the opening of around 40 new stores across the UK in 2025.

Stores scheduled for upgrades include locations in Brighton, Chelmsford, Sunderland, Maidstone, Bristol, Kettering, Livingston, and Eccles.
