Co-op has announced a series of investments across its store estate, including store relaunches in Alvechurch and Greater Manchester, and the opening of a new store in Chichester.
These developments form part of Co-op’s ongoing programme to modernise its estate, while supporting local jobs, community engagement, and sustainability initiatives.
The Alvechurch Co-op in Worcestershire has reopened following an eight-week transformation programme, safeguarding 12 local jobs. The refurbishment includes new flooring, ceilings, and energy-efficient refrigeration, enabling reduced energy consumption and an expanded fresh, chilled, and frozen range.
Phil Senior, Co-op’s area operations manager, said: “The store looks fantastic, transformed with a fresh new look designed to enhance the customer shopping experience.
“Our focus is on being a hub locally for the community, delivering the quality, choice, value and added services which can be enjoyed by everyone.”
Shoppers can also take advantage of home delivery services via Deliveroo and Just Eat, alongside PayPoint and soft plastic recycling facilities available in-store.
In Woodgate, West Sussex, Co-op has unveiled its newest store, creating 13 local jobs.
The site features a bakery, Costa Coffee Express, and a comprehensive convenience range, complemented by parcel collection services from Amazon and DPD, and payment facilities through PayPoint.
Online delivery is available via Just Eat, with Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and Co-op’s own online shop (shop.coop.co.uk) set to launch soon.
“The whole team is delighted to invest in Woodgate and launch Co-op’s newest store,” said branch Manager Niamh Cordell.
“We’ve had a fantastic response from the community. Our focus is to be a hub locally, delivering quality, choice, value and added services, both in-store and online via our quick commerce partners.”
In Greater Manchester, the Whalley Range Co-op has reopened following a month-long refit. The store, which supports 14 local jobs, now features an in-store bakery, Costa Coffee Express, and upgraded refrigeration systems designed to improve energy efficiency.
Area Manager Paul Willcox said: “The store looks fantastic, transformed with a fresh new look. We’re enjoying welcoming the community back into their Co-op.
“We’re proud to be part of local community life and to deliver the quality, choice, value and added services which can be enjoyed by everyone.”
