Mitie has secured a new £11.8 million facilities management (FM) contract with Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT).
The contract, encompassing patient dining, cleaning, and waste management services, will cover King George Hospital along with four additional sites: Fanshawe Health Centre, Bates Industrial Estate, South Street, and Lyon Road.
Mitie plans to roll out a range of tech-enabled catering services. For patients, this will allow quick and easy meal and drink orders via a bedside tablet, offering a wider selection of options compared with traditional paper menus or verbal requests.
A new click-and-collect coffee cart will also be introduced, allowing patients to collect their drinks without waiting in line, enhancing and personalising their beverage experience.
