Co-op launches its first new store of the year

Co-op marked the opening of its first store of 2026 on Friday (16 January) in the Willowbrook Park area of Didcot.

The new convenience store has created 11 local jobs and will be open daily from 6am to 10pm.

It will be offering a Costa Coffee Express, a bakery and hot food section, fresh produce, meat and dairy, food-to-go and meal deals, wines and beers, and everyday essentials.

Customers can enjoy the convenience of grocery delivery through partners including Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and Co-op’s website.

Amanda Fleming, Co-op area manager, said: “We’re delighted to invest in Didcot and proud to be the first new store Co-op launches in 2026.

“The store looks fantastic, and we have a focus on being a hub locally for the community, delivering the quality, choice, value and added services which can be enjoyed by everyone. We’re here to contribute to local life and conveniently serve and support the community.”

This month, the convenience retailer has introduced the Served “Taste of Asia” offer, expanding its private-label range with a main course and two sides for £8.

In a UK convenience retail first, Co-op introduced its own GLP-1-friendly meals, forming part of its “Good Fuel” health-focused range.

The convenience store retailer is also offering in-store promotions, member price savings, and a soft plastic recycling service.
