Parfetts Launches First Shop & Go in the South of England

Parfetts brings its first Shop & Go convenience store to the south of England with a brand-new forecourt site in Gosport, Hampshire.

The site, featuring a petrol filling station, received a £250,000 upgrade, overseen by retailer Muresh Seevaratnam.

This new outlet is a significant milestone, becoming the first Shop & Go store supplied via the Southampton depot.

The Shop & Go store features a range of products, from impulse and convenience items to confectionery, snacks, soft drinks, food-to-go, alcoholic drinks, and specialist selections.

The store is the latest addition to the expanding network of 23 smaller-format locations across the UK, with a further 40 planned for rollout over the next year.

This expansion further establishes the wholesaler’s footprint in southern England, building on the opening of the Southampton depot last year.

Following the debut of the new format, Seevaratnam has reported improved profit margins, supported by sales of hot food and higher-value categories, including wine and spirits.

Guy Swindell, joint managing director of Parfetts, said: “Shop & Go is designed for transient locations with time-sensitive shoppers, from forecourts to commuter hubs.

“We developed the format in response to retailer demand and the whole team has worked hard to create something that brings real value, strong margins and a clear point of difference.”
