CEO of Boparan Restaurant Group steps down

After more than six years as chief executive, Satnam Leihal has stepped down from Boparan Restaurant Group (BRG).

He joined the group in 2019, which operates nine brands such as Slim Chickens and Cinnamon Collection, following a two-decade career at Morrisons.

As chief executive, he oversaw BRG’s acquisition of 31 Carluccio’s restaurants out of administration and Gourmet Burger Kitchen.

Following Leihal’s departure, Richard Pigott has been promoted from director of operations to managing director of BRG.

Pigott started at BRG in 2017 as operations manager and advanced to head of operations in 2018, where he led the launch and growth of the Slim Chickens franchise across the UK.

For the past two years, he has held the position of director of operations.

A spokesperson for Boparan Restaurant Group said: “Richard’s appointment reflects his deep knowledge of the business and the key role he has played since BRG was founded. From launching Slim Chickens to leading operations across the group, Richard has consistently demonstrated strong leadership and a clear focus on performance and people.”

Boparan Restaurant Group operates over 100 sites in the UK and internationally, including brands such as Fishworks, Giraffe, and Carl’s Jr.
