Cheltenham Park Hotel acquired by former Hilton chief executive

Cheltenham Park Hotel has been bought by the former chief executive of Hilton, Sir David Michels.

Located 10 minutes from Cheltenham Racecourse, the 152-bedroom four-AA-star hotel was part of the Hotel Collection, which belonged to Lone Star Funds. The venue features a leisure club with swimming pool, restaurant and function rooms.

The Grade II-listed property was put on the market last November for £8m but the price paid for it by Michels has not been disclosed.

Michels & Taylor, the hotel management and advisory company run by Michels and Hugh Taylor, will operate the hotel.

Part of the newly formed Amaris Hospitality group, the Hotel Collection sold two other properties in June – the Palace hotel in Buxton and the Basingstoke Country hotel – to Britannia Hotels.
