New innovative whisky bar to open in Shoreditch

Black Rock, a new subterranean whisky bar, is set to open on 16 March in London's Shoreditch,

The duo behind the concept is Tom Aske and Tristan Stephenson, who are also behind Worship Street Whistling Shop, and drinks brand Aske Stephenson.

Aske and Stephenson plan to reinvent the world of whisky, with a creative cocktail menu and over 250 bottles of whisky from producers all over the world.

They’re doing away with the traditional bar set-up and instead have installed an 18ft, 185-year-old oak tree trunk which will be situated in the centre of Black Rock.

There will be a ‘roaming’ bartender mixing drinks for guests sat around the oak trunk, which will function as a whisky ageing system. One lined with American charred oak and the other toasted European oak, will age two whisky cocktails as they are poured from the other end of the trunk.
