William Jackson Food Group acquires The Food Doctor

William Jackson Food Group (WJFG) has acquired The Food Doctor, the London-based healthy snacks firm, for undisclosed terms.

WJFG has been looking to enter the healthy eating category for some time and has long admired The Food Doctor, which was started by nutritionists in 1999. Today, The Food Doctor sells branded healthy snacking and bread products across the major retailers, albeit products are primarily available in the south of England.

With WJF's investment and knowledge of the food industry, and an appetite among shoppers for healthy and tasty food, the firm sees the purchase as a key opportunity to grow the brand and develop it further.

Ian Hunt, who has led two WJFG businesses as managing director and has an excellent pedigree working with consumer brands within the grocery retail channel, has been appointed as Managing Director of The Food Doctor and Michael da Costa, who formerly owned the business, will remain with The Food Doctor as Innovation Director.
