The Countess of York, the beautifully restored 1956 Pullman-style carriage situated at the National Railway Museum in York, is embracing the upcoming summer season with a new seasonal afternoon tea menu.
The new menu, which has been devised by in-house caterers Levy Restaurants UK, will feature a range of finger sandwiches such as honey roast ham and English mustard, cucumber and cream cheese, free range egg mayonnaise and watercress and chargrilled chicken and basil pesto.
The summer afternoon tea menu also includes sun blushed tomato and mozzarella tart and homemade scones, baked to a traditional Yorkshire recipe, and served with vanilla clotted cream and homemade berry preserve.
Homemade baked goods include macarons, crème pâtissière tarts, lemon and blueberry drizzle cake, white chocolate and raspberry éclair and passion fruit posset.
Sam Waseem, Assistant Catering Manager at the National Railway Museum, said, “We work hard throughout the year reinventing our afternoon tea menu to ensure we are making the most of the fantastic seasonal ingredients from our local suppliers. The new menu will offer guests a real taste of summer and we are certain it will prove to be a huge success.”
