GBK signs up to new £45m Stockport retail & leisure scheme

Stockport Council is to welcome Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) to Redrock Stockport, the town's new £45m retail and leisure development.

With a distinctive offer, GBK's announcement makes it the third high quality restaurant to commit to Redrock. Pizza Express and Zizzi have also already signed up to be part of the new £45m development alongside The Light Cinema, when it opens its doors in late 2017.

GBK takes a new approach to the burger scene, serving up a variety of freshly prepared dishes, and has become a popular destination with diners in recent years across the UK.

The new 3,000 sq ft restaurant at Redrock is a boost for the town and shows how companies are keen to be part of Stockport's future.

Work at Redrock Stockport is now well underway, on track and is scheduled to open in 2017.

Councillor Kate Butler, Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council, said, 'I am delighted to welcome GBK to Stockport. Their decision to join us at Redrock is a real boost for the town and its growing food offer. Redrock will be a great addition to our town centre and its popularity with restaurant operators shows the opportunities this will offer for businesses and residents. I look forward to welcoming GBK in person when they open in 2017.'

Andrew Reavley of letting agents Lunson Mitchenall said, 'GBK takes the development to 60% pre-let and the quality of tenant line up is testimony to the trading potential of the scheme. We are in active discussions with further occupiers on the small number of remaining units'.

The 75,000 sq ft retail and leisure development is transforming an area in the heart of Stockport town centre, alongside the busy M60 motorway, into a 'must visit' destination bringing a new vibrancy to the town. Redrock is part of a £1 billion programme that is underway in Stockport which will transform the town and build on the many strengths of the borough.
