Premier Inn gets green light for £9.1m Isle of Wight hotel

Whitbread-owned Premier Inn has been given the green light to build a new hotel on Sandown Esplanade, Isle of Wight, set to cost £9.1m.

The new 100-room hotel will aim to provide approximately £1.62m a year to the local economy and is to create 65 full-time jobs.

The Carlton Hotel, which currently sits on the site, will be demolished early next year and the year-long building is expected to begin no later than November 2019.

Premier Inn already operates a Sandown hotel in Merrie Gardens, which opened almost a year ago and has achieved very positive feedback on TripAdvisor.
