Robin Sheppard, Bespoke Hotels chairman, has been recognised by the government’s Office for Disability Issues as a 'hotel sector champion'.
Penny Mordaunt, Minister for disabled people, work and health has personally selected Robin Shepphard to join her campaign to improve access to products and services, drive equality and provide equal opportunities for disabled people.
Sheppard, joins a network of 'champions' across various sectors, including fashion, hospitality, technology, media, leisure venues and transport, who have been selected to drive the campaign forward.
Since launching Bespoke Hotels in 2001 with business partner Haydn Fentum, Sheppard has experience at first hand the frustrating and limiting effects of disability after he was struck down with Guillain-Barré syndrome.
He has since campaigned to encourage hotels to create a more “joyful experience” for disabled guests.
Bespoke launched its Bespoke Access Awards last year, in partnership with the Royal Institute of British Architects, to address accessibility in hotels through design and innovation. The inaugural award was presented in December.
