Merlin plans major expansion of Legoland Windsor

Merlin Entertainment Group has submitted plans for the expansion of its Legoland theme park in Windsor by 2024.

The scheme includes four new rides, an expansion to the gift shop and up to 450 guest accommodation units.

The company's plans will see the creation of 150 new units of accommodation (65 semi-detached lodges of two units each and 20 ‘barrels’) along with community and play facilities. This will form phase one of a new holiday village. Then a further 300 units of visitor accommodation will be constructed, forming phases two and three of the holiday village.

There will be a new admissions building, more toilets and new entrance at the entry building known as The Beginning. There will be extension to the existing Big Shop Lego store at The Beginning area.

A new attraction for 2019 will be made up of three 'attraction zones' for up to three new rides, one of which will be indoors on the site of the Haunted House.
