Jurys Inn has today officially announced Britain’s Happy Menu consisting of the dishes identified by a poll of over 2,000 Brits that are deemed to make the nation happiest: potato skins filled with prawn cocktail and smoked salmon soup, followed by a rib-eye steak cottage pie burger and an apple brownie sundae.
The hotel group commissioned the research to mark the end of British Food Fortnight - which encourages people to discover products they may not have been aware of before, and to use new and innovative ways of celebrating British food.
Jurys Inn then worked with a food innovation expert to create a quirky, fusion menu consisting of the top starters, main courses and desserts Brits said they love most.
Despite the well-documented trend for clean living and veganism, we Brits seem to be bucking the trend. As we move in to the colder months, it would seem that we are looking for traditional, hearty, comfort foods.
The classic winter warmers soup and potato skins topped the chart for the starters, when it came to the main course it was steak and chips, a burger and cottage pie taking home the prize, and for dessert, it was an apple crumble or chocolate brownie to round off the list of dishes that make Brits happiest.
As part of its belief that all guests should Stay Happy, Jurys Inn constantly seek to identify what make guests happy and provide guests with those small touches – all of which add up to a great stay - including the welcoming environment and friendly staff who greet you, all the little experiences in the guest rooms and throughout the hotel and of course – the food!
The research identified that the average family dines out 2.3 times a month, with an average spend of £20 per head. When choosing restaurants 59% of Brits rate quality of food as the most important factor, followed by price (21%) - and if it’s tasty and affordable food then Jurys Inn has no shortage of traditional, and quirky, options for you.
Jurys Inn has dining options to cater for all needs. From the in-house restaurants that serve up kid-friendly options and gourmet three course meals, room service, stylish bars for a relaxing cocktail or glass of wine, and the quirky Oddsocks Bar & Kitchen, a new concept restaurant that is being introduced across a number of recently refurbished Jurys Inn hotels.
Suzanne Cannon, Jurys Inn’s Head of Marketing, said, “We are constantly looking to improve the happiness of our guests and it’s no secret that a big part of human happiness comes from satisfied stomachs! While the fusion menu may not instantly sound like something that would make you happy, we can guarantee that the fun and quirky menu tastes delicious!”
The menu will be available upon request for a limited time only at Oddsocks Bar & Kitchen in Jurys Inn Manchester and Jurys Inn Brighton.
