ETM to open Broadleaf next month

The ETM Group is adding to its ever-growing portfolio with the launch of Broadleaf, opening in the shadow of Tower 42 on the City’s Old Broad Street, this November.

The unique, new-build bar and restaurant, designed by Russell Stage Studio, is inspired by the magnificent tropical glasshouses of the Victorian era which, due to window tax imposed on dwellings, were strictly for the social elite.

Bringing a splash of green to the City, the Broadleaf interior features natural woods including a chevron parquet flooring and brass and copper finishes as well as intricate ironwork, botanical-themed walls and tropical taxidermy, reinforcing the ‘grand greenhouse’ setting. An open plan theatre kitchen, terrarium display cases and a feature tile wall completes the Victorian-inspired picture, whilst Broadleaf’s al fresco terrace, decked with tropical planters, offers shelter all-year-round.

The 200-cover, 500-square metre venue is divided into distinct areas. On the ground floor, a large, statement bar, complete with glass gantry and six copper beer tanks, dispensing tank fresh brews, takes centre stage. High level stools and low leather banquettes provide a mix of seating for vertical drinkers and diners. As well as fresh brews, Broadleaf will serve inventive botanically inspired cocktails, alongside a large selection of classic wines, artisan spirts and craft beers.

The elegant upstairs lounge is perfect for private events and features group activity du jour shuffleboard and two large plasma TVs for showing the world’s biggest sporting fixtures. Live music and cocktail masterclasses will be part of a regular-changing schedule of events.
The modern British menu stays true to ETM’s roots – championing provenance, locality, seasonality and quality. Available lunch through to dinner, Monday – Saturday, the menu will include brasserie style dishes using the freshest ingredients. On Saturdays, Broadleaf will offer a bottomless brunch.

The 14th venue from brothers Ed and Tom Martin follows the success of recent openings including City venues: Long Arm Pub & Brewery and rooftop destination, Aviary, as well as Greenwood in Victoria. ETM is on track with its ambitious expansion plans, driven by a strong location strategy, robust concepts and an obsession to deliver consistent quality. The group plans to open three new venues over the coming 12 months.

Tom Martin, co-founder of ETM, comments: “Following successful trading of The Botanist Broadgate Circle, around the corner, we are delighted to be bringing a fresh new concept to the area. Broadleaf will offer the perfect destination for after-work drinks, weekend brunching and private parties. We look forward to introducing Broadleaf to the area and welcoming plenty of new faces.”
