Pukka Pies plans new factory with 150 new jobs

Pukka Pies has submitted plans to build a 51,000 sq ft pie factory near its headquarters at Syston in Leicestershire, with the creation of 150 jobs.

The company stated that the new facility will expand production and add a further £25m to its £47m turnover.

The current site is home to around 350 staff and already has the capacity to make a million pies a week, rising to 1.3-1.4 million in the winter.

In the last year, Pukka has launched an £8m marketing campaign, launched Posher Pukka pies range, and created a new recipe for its all steak pie, with chunkier cuts of beef and richer gravy.

The family-owned manufacturer currently supplies around 35 million pies a year to fish and chip shops and football clubs.
