Troubled meat supplier, Russell Hume has fallen into administration and made 266 staff redundant across its six production sites in Liverpool, Birmingham, London, Boroughbridge, Exeter and Fife.
KPMG has been appointed as administrators to the Derby-based group and will be seeking buyers for the business and its assets.
Chris Pole, partner at KPMG, said, 'The recent product recall and halt in operations has caused significant customer attrition and trading difficulties, which in turn has led the directors to take the decision to place the company into administration.'
Russell Hume's meat products were recalled last month following an FSA investigation, which concerned the firm's failure to comply with food hygiene regulations.
On 9 February, the business was to be allowed to resume production and distribution of products to customers but only from their Liverpool site.
The company, which has taken down its website, supplied meat to a range of hotels, restaurants and pubs across the UK, including Hilton hotels, Jamie Oliver's restaurants, and Wetherspoons.
