Flat Iron to open sixth site late this year

Steak restaurant brand, Flat Iron is to open a sixth site later in the year having secures a site in Tooley Street, near London Bridge, SE1.

The new restaurant will be one of the chain's larger venues with 120 covers and will have a indoor garden theme.

The brand is known for its steak deal for £10, with dishes including The Flat Iron burger - the patty is minced on site - Béarnaise sauce, shallots, St. John Bakery bun, and Flat Iron Feast, which includes Yorkshire puddings, gravy & Rib Eye carved tableside.

The company works with its own herd of rare and traditional breed cattle on the Flat Iron Farm in North Yorkshire, as well as a network of small specialist farmers and butchers, who hand select their finest individual animals for the chain.

Sides include Dripping triple-cooked chips, Creamed spinach, and Sophie's salad- blue cheese, candied pecans & lemon dressing.

Surprisingly for a meat-driven menu, there's a veggie options, Aubergine Parmigiana.

For sweet treats, desserts include Valrhona chocolate mousse, with Kirsch cherries, double cream & chocolate shavings, and Salted caramel sundae.

Beyond the current menu, Flat Iron SE1 will be serving up some new desserts and beverages.

Opening the first permanent site on 2012, Flat Iron currently operates five London restaurants, two of which are in Soho, then single sites in Covent Garden, Shoreditch and W10.

Last year, Flat Iron received backing from private equity group, Piper, which invested £10m for company's expansion. The brand has plans for another couple of new openings by 2019.
