Starwood snaps up £8.75m Scottish Highlands hotel

Hilton Coylumbridge, situated on a substantial estate in the Scottish Highlands, has been sold to global hotel investor, Starwood Capital, through Christie & Co, for around £8.75m.

This famous hotel, which sits on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park, boasts 175 bedrooms. It features extensive conference, leisure and function areas, including two heated indoor swimming pools. Very much a family resort business, the hotel also has its own large soft play facility, 18-hole crazy golf, 10 pin bowling, video game arcade and an American-themed diner.

A highly profitable business, the hotel appealed to a wide range of both domestic and international investors, including investors from the Far East and the US, where the ultimate buyer is based.

Acting on behalf of giant US REIT, Park Hotels & Resorts, Jeremy Jones – Head of Hotel Brokerage at Christie & Co, commented, “I am delighted that the Hilton Coylumbridge has found a new owner in Starwood Capital, a truly global hotel owner. Since opening to meet the demands of the Cairngorm ski area, the hotel has developed into one of the region’s most popular and consistently busy family resorts.

'In addition to the beauty of the region, the hotel’s own extensive facilities ensure that guests can equally be entertained indoors as outdoors. Once again, the sale process proved that Scotland is a country with global investor appeal.”
