Drake & Morgan welcomes ex-Charles Wells & Deltic execs to run ops team


Bar & restaurant group, Drake & Morgan announces two new operational appointments: Craig Mayes as Interim Operations Director and Darryn Valerio as Operations Manager.

Mayes (pictured) joins from Charles Wells, the Bedford-based brewer and retailer, where he spent the last 11 years in a variety of operational and functional roles in property and marketing. Having led a successful transformation of Charles Wells’ tenanted business, he then led efforts to grow the company’s managed offering, during which time he was responsible for: Apostrophe Pubs & Pizza and Pots & Pints, as well as overseeing Charles Well France.

With over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Valerio joins Drake & Morgan from The Deltic Group, where he delivered like-for-like sales growth, increased pre-booked sales and enhanced the group’s Net Promoter Score. Prior to that, he has held operations roles at CG Restaurants and Bars and Novus Leisure.

Drake & Morgan has a portfolio of 22 bars & restaurants across London, Manchester and Edinburgh, including Devonshire Terrace, The Listing and The Folly. The Group is set to open its second site in Manchester this summer, The Anthologist at One St Peters Square, joining The Refinery at Spinningfields.
