BaxterStorey Programme Manager receives Acorn Award

BaxterStorey Service Academy Programme Manager, Gabrielle Le Roux has received an Acorn Award yesterday at The Caterer’s 32nd Acorn Awards Ceremony held at the Grade II-listed Lygon Arms hotel in Broadway, Worcestershire.

Le Roux’s career is a great example of the huge opportunities that the hospitality/catering industry can offer.

Born and bred in South Africa, Le Roux graduated with a First Class Degree in Hospitality Business Management from the University of Birmingham in 2015. Soon after she joined BaxterStorey’s Graduate Programme and by 2017, she had taken on a crucial role as Programme Developer of BaxterStorey’s industry-leading Service Academy.

Earlier this year, Le Roux became the Programme Manager and is now the first in-house APP educator in the food service industry.

The Service Academy was launched by BaxterStorey officially in February and aims to give hospitality teams the skills and confidence to provide a service to rival that of a five-star hotel.

On receiving the award, Le Roux said, “As I originate from South Africa, I didn’t become aware of the Acorn Awards until my partner, Gareth Ferreira (Head Sommelier at Core, London), won an Acorn in 2015.

'I was so inspired by it and thought it was something I would love to achieve myself one day, but I didn’t expect it so soon and I’m delighted to have received it while in my new role at BaxterStorey.

'My job is so varied now and I’m thoroughly challenged every day - but loving every moment. To be recognised for my work within the Service Academy is incredible.”
