Pret A Manger’s organic iced coffee is now available for customers to enjoy in over 200 shops, just in time for one of the hottest weeks of 2018.
To help customers to stay cool this Friday, and because the company is known for its ‘random acts of kindness’, Team Members will be surprising customers by giving away iced coffees for one hour in selected shops on Friday 29 June.
Alongside iced coffees, Pret will also be serving fruity summer smoothies and indulgent frappes this summer, and new cakes and baguettes will be available in shops from today.
Pret’s expert Baristas will be serving Iced Americanos and Iced Lattes in 200 shops, and Pret has a variety of organic milk options available, including soya and rice-coconut (the rice-coconut milk costs an extra 30p).
Clare Clough, Pret’s Food & Coffee Director, commented, “In the US, Pret customers make the switch from hot to iced coffee as soon as the sun comes out. Over the last year, we’ve noticed interest growing in the UK so we’re introducing the offer to many more shops.
“When enjoyed over ice, the flavour profile changes; the sweetness and acidity of our organic coffee is more noticeable, and adding milk creates a sweeter, creamier coffee.”
Pret’s iced coffees are served in a recyclable plastic cup with a paper straw (the company is removing plastic straws, plastic tea spoons and hot drink stoppers from shops this summer) and customers who bring in a reusable cup will be able to enjoy 50p off any Barista-prepared drink – including all iced beverages. To make it even easier for customers to save 50p, and a paper cup, Pret has just (finally) launched its first reusable cup.
Today, Pret is launching new cakes (including a gluten-free option), toasted baguettes, Chef’s Specials and fruit pots.
Toasted Baguettes (selected shops only)
The Toasted Baguettes are a brand new category, and customers will be able to find them next to Pret’s Hot Wraps and Toasties. Freshly prepared in kitchens in shops every day, each will be toasted individually for customers to enjoy.
Spicy Chicken - Chicken breast with a chipotle ketchup sauce, Greve cheese, red pepper with Pret’s zingy green salsa. Finished with a few rings of red onion and a handful of coriander.
Salt Beef & Pickles - Pret’s take on a classic Reuben sandwich. Slices of salt beef with crunchy gherkins, pickled cabbage & carrot, Greve cheese and a dollop of mustard mayo.
Artichoke & Mozzarella - Combining slices of mozzarella, grilled artichoke hearts, roasted tomatoes, kalamata olives, Italian cheese and fresh basil leaves.
Prosciutto & Mozzarella - A classic Italian baguette combining a layer of sliced mozzarella, prosciutto, roasted tomatoes, Italian cheese and fresh basil leaves.
Gluten-Free Lemon Drizzle Cake - Pret’s gluten-free lemon drizzle cake is made with polenta and almonds. Each slice is topped with a zingy drizzle and a delicious, lemon cream cheese icing.
Sticky Ginger Cake (selected shops only) - Made with treacle and stem ginger, this slice of cake has a ginger drizzle topping and a cream cheese icing.
Joining the fridges this summer are two seasonal fruit pots: British Berries, which combines British raspberries, strawberries and blackberries, and a sliced Nectarine & Raspberries pot.
Two new Chef’s Specials will be available in Pret’s fridges for two months, offering customers the choice between a vegetarian or vegan option and a meaty. Available Tuesday 26 June – Monday 6 August
Italian Mozzarella & Pesto (vegetarian) - A base of sliced mozzarella topped with nutty pesto, fresh basil and roasted tomatoes. Finished with peppery rocket and roasted pine nuts. A combination of classic Italian flavours in a stone-baked baguette.
Bang Bang Chicken - A combination of British chicken breast coated in a creamy roasted sesame sauce topped with a carrot & mooli slaw, fresh coriander, spinach and crunchy cucumber. Available Tuesday 7 August – Monday 24 September
Avocado & Chipotle Chickpeas (vegan) - A vegan salad wrap that features creamy avocado covered with chipotle chickpeas, charred corn & black bean salsa and topped with fresh coriander and mixed salad leaves.
Tuna Nicoise Baguette - A classic French recipe recreated in Pret’s stone baked baguette. Pole & line caught tuna dressed with Kalamata black olives tapenade, sliced free-range egg, roasted tomatoes and fresh basil leaves.
