Co-op named wine c-store chain of the year

Co-op has been named ‘Convenience Store Chain of the Year’ for the third year running at the International Wine Challenge Merchant Awards 2018.

Judged by some of the biggest names in the wine industry; they said, “Co-op has had another very strong year, doing particular well with their consumer-facing initiatives. They have shown real innovation in their sourcing as well as continuing to support Fairtrade.”

Simon Cairns, Co-op’s Category Trading Manager for beer, wine and spirits, said, “We continue to source from some of the world’s finest producers, from Pol Roger to Joseph Drouhin to deliver our customers a high-quality wine range at a good price.

“The team has been working exceptionally hard to continue to increase the strength of the category and this award is great recognition for our fantastic range and our passionate wine buying team.”

The award recognises the quality of the retailer’s wine and fizz range, as well as the outstanding achievements Co-op has made in the last year, including Fairtrade. Co-op continues to pioneer in this area and in the biggest ever Fairtrade deal in the UK, converted 3.5million litres to the ethical label to offer even more choice to customers.
