Lidl plans 44 new supermarkets across Wales

Lidl is looking to open 44 new supermarkets across Wales, as part of plans to reach 1,000 stores by 2022. The German-owned chain, which launched in the UK in 1994, currently operates over 700 stores.

In the Vale of Glamorgan, Cowbridge is set to see a Lidl, and so is it's close neighbour Llantwit Major, only five miles away.

In Mid-Wales, new stores are planned for both Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells, despite them being only eight miles apart.

For Cardiff, which already has 7 Lidl stores, the supermarket chain is looking to open another two branches.

Swansea has been earmarked for the largest investment with four new sites being sought there.

Finally, Tenby, the popular seaside resort, is also set for a brand new store.
