Jurys Inn welcomes new head of development

The leading UK and Irish hotel group, Jurys Inn has appointed Andrew Shaw as its new Head of Development.

Shaw joins Jurys Inn with approaching 30 years of hotel consultancy, brokerage and development experience. He joins Jurys Inn from IHG where he led the UK and Ireland development team and was tasked with growing further the region’s portfolio of over 320 hotels across all the group’s brands.

Prior to this, Shaw held the position of Vice President of Development in the UK and Ireland at Accor Hotels, having been with the business for eight years, where he was responsible for defining and delivering Accor’s hotel development plan – with a focus on leases, franchise agreements and management contracts.

Here, he led the growth of the business from 96 hotels to over 200 through a combination of portfolio and individual hotel transactions involving direct investment in assets (acquisition and lease) and latterly through franchise and management agreements.

At Jurys Inn, Shaw will play a key role in growing the Group’s presence in the UK and Ireland under the Jurys Inn and Leonardo brands, as it looks to considerably grow the number of acquisition and development opportunities. He will be responsible for leading the expanding development team, and identifying and driving strategic business development and acquisition opportunities for the Group.

Jason Carruthers, Managing Director of Jurys Inn, said, “Andrew is a fantastic addition to the team and brings unique experience from across hotel development, brokerage and franchise agreements to our business. We have ambitious plans to significantly expand the growth of the Jurys Inn and Leonardo group and Andrew’s experience will be fundamental in achieving this.”

Shaw, said, “I’m delighted to be joining Jurys Inn at a very exciting time in its history. The Group has a very diverse portfolio, and with plans to significantly increase its footprint, I look forward to working closely with Jason and the wider management to strengthen its position as one of the UK and Ireland’s leading hotel groups.”
