Midcounties Co-op celebrates new local food partnership

A new local food partnership is set to bring a taste of Italy to Co-op Midcounties stores across the region.

The Alifranco selection – a range of locally produced pasta and pasta sauces – is the latest addition to the Co-op’s Best of Our Counties’ range, which showcases the best food and drink from local suppliers in Warwickshire.

The Italian-inspired produce is the result of a collaboration between Warwickshire producer Mudwalls and two chefs – Alice and Francesco Aldorasi-Sanford (pictured). It was created following a cook-off and in-store tasting where shoppers selected the winning range.

The new food will be stocked in Co-op Midcounties food stores in Chipping Norton and Bourton on the Water later this month.

The winning products include:
- Two plain pastas; fusilli and spinach
- Three filled pasta flavours; porcini and ricotta; butternut squash and caramelised onion; pea, mint and lemon
- Three pasta sauces; salmon and cream pea; slow roast beef ragu; arabiata spicy tomato

Matt Fletcher, Direct Sourcing Manager at The Midcounties Co-operative Food, said, “We’re committed to supporting fantastic local suppliers and bringing our customers the very best regional produce. We already know from the in-store tasting session that these pasta products will go down a storm so we are excited to be stocking them on our shelves.”

George Beach, managing director at Mudwalls Farm, said: “All ingredients in this range are sourced locally, so customers can be sure of their provenance and quality. We’ve really enjoyed working with Alice and Francesco on this new range and we’re over the moon that the Alifranco products are now available to the local public. They are delicious flavours and we are confident shoppers will love them.”
